My weight is none of my business.
My business is to eat whole foods and move my body. The real work is to love and appreciate the body I have today. My weight is God’s business. Wherever your weight ends up, it ends up. You cannot control the number on the scale, but you can control your behaviors and perspectives. When your behaviors fall short, focus on your perspective. Appreciate what’s gone well and encourage yourself to keep going.
Taking the rocking chair test… imagine being 90 years old sitting on your front porch looking back on your life. Many years do you want to spend fighting food, fearing food, trying one diet after another. Waiting to start fulling living when you hit some “goal weight”. Isn’t the real work loving and enjoying the bodies we have today?
Non-Negotiables - Eating is not a moral issue. Your weight is not a reflection of your worth. Your worth is non-negotiable.
When you eat compulsively…
You’re still deserving of unconditional love.
When you binge eat…
You’re still deserving of good things.
When you experience a slip…
You’re still deserving of compassion
Action Steps for today:
Mirror Work
Here’s an exercise I would like you to practice that is going to help you hone in on this self-love. At some point, each and every day, you’re going to be naked. When this moment comes, I want you to look at yourself in a full-length mirror—really look at yourself. Then I want you to adore, compliment, and give love to all the parts of you that normally don’t receive so much love. Start to feel that vibration, the glow that radiates from self-love. Trust me, once you start loving yourself in this way, unconditionally, your entire world will be so much brighter. This is unconditional self-love in action.
